Recorded early 2019, Via Negativa features 6 new tracks of cinematic, evocative IDM by electronic sound explorer Scott Metoyer.

Via Negativa: "... a way of describing something by saying what it is not." The EP is a journey into negative space, where the sounds that are absent describe as much as those that are there.

When creating Via Negativa, Scott followed a guiding principal of addition by subtraction. The release is all modular, recorded in a series of one-shot multitrack live sessions on a Eurorack format modular synthesizer. The dense, multilayered raw compositions were then brought into the DAW where they were meticulously deconstructed, unraveled, and rearranged by hand.

The results are a melodic and intricate dismantling of classic experimental IDM that draws the listener into the microscopic spaces Scott has curated between the notes.
